As I head full tilt into the holiday season, I can already feel the pressure of all my commitments weighing on my mind. This is a very busy time at work with a diverse staff pulled by their own needs and obligations and of course the personal side of life is rife with tasks and promises and celebrations that can start to feel more like just another chore than the joyful gathering they should feel like. But as we've all heard repeatedly, you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else.
I consider myself a well-versed cook. Perhaps even accomplished. Pots du crème? Sure! Bring them on! Strawberry cake with whipped cream topping? Great way to spend two days in the kitchen! Meringue dishes for homemade ice cream? Challenge accepted!
Blame it on Thanksgiving, but I'm thinking about how grateful I am for so many things in my life. One of the focuses has been all my body is capable of. While my stamina and strength are not what they were, I know I can get back to that point. I also know that I'm lucky to have that ability and I shouldn't take it for granted.
With that in mind, I've put together a playlist of songs that reflect my grateful nature, but still have a good enough beat to work out to. Enjoy!
I admit it: I am old school when it comes to hosting dinners at my house. Even when it's only one guest, I make sure there are place cards. Usually I make a chocolate box with the guest's initial on it, but this year I thought maybe a little less food would be appreciated. Enter these adorable (if I do say so myself), easy-to-make (you are bound to agree) pumpkins!
