OK, I don't know which came first: the toy named "Sit and Spin" or the phrase accompanied by a rude gesture. If it's the latter, isn't that sort of a terrible thing to name a toy? I'm presuming, of course, that this phrase/gesture combo isn't just a regional thing.

I'm SURE that the toy came first. I don't want to live in a world in which it happened the other way around. :)

I'm certain the toy came first - it's been around since the 60s, and the first time I heard the phrase was a good 20 years later. The good news is I think the phrase is not very common, or maybe I just don't spend that much time with teenagers.
