Ktbl! OMG! LOL! :-(
Help!!!! (If you have time). I know what ktbl means. I know how to do it. But, now that I'm working with the pomatomus pattern from Knitty (trying to make the mermaid gloves) on size one needles with fingering weight yarn and all I'm doing is ktbl-ing, I'm finding it way too fiddly and I've ripped it out three times already. Since this was going to be one of my convalescing projects, I don't think I want that sort of frustration or fussing. However, I'm still really enamored with the pattern. So my question is: is there any sort of substitute for ktbl-ing? Could I just knit normally without the heavens crashing down upon me? Or should I slip the stitch onto the right hand needle then slip it onto the left hand needle purposely twisting it? (I could see that getting almost as old as the tbl thing, but at least I probably wouldn't lose the strand of yarn and my sanity so much). Anyway, any suggestions would thrill me beyond normal reason!!!!
And, so this isn't an all whiny post, I was reading this article today and it's got me thinking about what I would submit to the Library of Congress's audio files. Then I started thinking about what you all would submit, so I'd love for you to leave a comment and tell me! The article says the recordings must be at least 10 years old, but I'm putting no such restrictions on you. They accepted 25 recordings this year but you don't have to post that many (unless you want to! I'd love that, too!). One would make me happy! I'll have to think about this before I post, but I'm positive that one thing would be a recording of Samuel Ramey singing one of the devil arias he does so well. Did I mention what a thrill it was to see him in Houston this past January in Faust? Playing Mephistopheles, of course. Anyway, not only is he an amazing singer but he's hot so maybe they need to put a picture with that. Hey, I know that's shallow, but I least I adored him for his voice first so there.
